Supporting the name change and central IT systems

The Brief

Canon Inc completed its acquisition of Toshiba Corps’ Medical Systems late December 2016 and the business’s goal was to change its name, central IT systems to Canon Medical in 2017. This presented several challenges to the company’s existing Active Directory and Cloud migration plans affecting 200 + users both on premise and working remotely.

101 Data Solutions were engaged to work with the customer aiding them in collapsing two Active Directories into one then supporting the move from on premise AD and exchange into a new O356 and Azure Cloud tenancy.

The Solution

101 assigned one of its Cloud architects to gather information from the customers environment to understand:

• Its current user profiles,
• It’s desired outcome.
• Permission consistencies throughout the migration.
• Access and responsibilities.

Once this information was obtained, 101 Data Solutions we able to create a comprehensive Statement of Works with Milestones. Canon were able to make ready the recommended prerequisite changes to their environment prior to the work starting, these were given to expedite the process and reduce 3rd party service delivery time

It was also suggested that service delivery was delivered remotely and out of hours to further reduce impact to Canon’s business as usual activities.

The Result

101 Data Solutions we able to complete a large amount of perpetration work through off line script creation and migration tooling without interaction with customers live environment.

A small amount of users were selected to test and the results were discussed, once both parties could see the positive results the second phase began moving further users across.

During the process 101 Data Solutions provided training throughout the migration and once the customer became familiar with the process, they were enabled to complete the final labour intensive tasks themselves saving on any additional service delivery time.
