Supporting Tomorrow's Marine Scientists
Our oceans are facing unprecedented challenges. From climate change and pollution to habitat loss and declining biodiversity, marine ecosystems are under increasing pressure. Protecting these vital environments requires scientific understanding, research, and most importantly, the next generation of talented marine biologists.
That is why we are supporting the MBA’s Future Marine Biologist Programme, an initiative dedicated to removing financial barriers that can prevent young people from pursuing careers in marine science. The programme helps ensure that talent, passion, and dedication, rather than personal circumstances, determine who can access opportunities in this important field.
Making Every Donation Go Further
The MBA is working to raise £3,750 by 28 August to secure participation in The Big Give Christmas Challenge, one of the UK’s most impactful match-funding campaigns.
As one of the campaign’s early pledgers, 101 Data Solutions is helping to unlock additional match funding. This means that when the public campaign launches in December, donations can have twice the impact, allowing more young people to access opportunities that will help shape the future of marine science and ocean conservation.
Importantly, pledging support at this stage is simply a promise of future support. Pledgers will not be asked to make their donation until after the campaign takes place in December
Turning Barriers into Breakthroughs
The public campaign, titled “Turning Barriers into Breakthroughs for Our Ocean”, will run from 2 to 8 December and aims to generate vital funding for aspiring marine biologists.
The MBA will officially launch the campaign during a drinks reception held as part of its Annual Science Talk on Wednesday 2 December. The event will bring together supporters, partners, researchers, and advocates who share a commitment to protecting our oceans and investing in marine science.
